1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/3 c. melted shortening or oil
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. cold water

Directions:
Sift all dry ingredients into a 9-inch square pan. Pour in oil, vinegar, vanilla, then cold water over all. Mix well. Bake 30 min. in 350º oven.

This was my Brownie troop's head honcho's recipe from '61-'64 in Seal Beach. It's fast, really rich, and delicious. Use with "Brownie" frosting.
