2 sticks oleo
1 box (one pound) brown sugar
3 eggs
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped ;nuts (optional)
1 package (6 oz) chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Cream oleo and sugar, add eggs, the flour. Add other ingredients. Make into 3 rolls and wrap in wax paper or foil. Chill and slice. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 or 12 minutes.

This recipe was handwritten by Mary Elizabeth Finley inside the First Christian cookbook with a note that says Florence got this from Mrs. Spinks. On the recipe there is a note that they can be kept in the ice box for emergency. Chocolate emergency--how great!!
