1 cup butter
1/3 cup cream
2 cups flour
granulated sugar

Mix butter, cream, and flour thoroughly; Chill 1 hour. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured board, cut into 1 ½ inch rounds transfer to waxed paper heavily sprinkled with sugar, turning to coat both sides. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Prick in 4 places with fork. Bake 7 to 9 minutes until slightly puffy. Do not brown. Put two cooled cookies together with creamy butter filling.

Blend ¼ cup butter, ¾ cup sifted confectioners sugar, 1 egg yolk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Tint is optional. Light pink and green look great.

Barb Becker Clark made these for the baby shower she had for Julie and I. I absolutely love them. When she made them they were perfect tiny cookies with pale pastel color centers. I took home the recipe and made them doughnut cutter size and they didn’t cook properly. Make them small and eat more.
