1 1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 salt
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup oats

Filling
1/2 lbs dates
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients using pastry cutter, press half in 9" X 13" greased pan (for thicker squares, use 8" square pan). Cook filling ingredients except vanilla, once cooked to paste like substance add vanilla. Pour onto base and sprinkle reminding crumbs on top and press lightly. Cook 325 for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
