2 eggs
1 cup white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp butter
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Beat eggs and then continue beating while gradually adding sugar, then vanilla. Combine dry ingredients together and fold gently into egg mixture. Heat milk and butter and pour into batter and mix gently. Pour into 8" square pan and bake at 350º for 20 - 25 minutes.

Prepare topping as follows:
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shredded or flaked coconut
3 tbsp milk
Combine all ingredients. When cake is done, pour topping evenly over cake and broil until golden brown. The cake is also excellent to use for strawberry shortcake in place of angel food cake.
