Danish Gingerbread Recipe

1 c. butter
2/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. light corn syrup
2/3 c. honey
1 tsp. grated lemon rind
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
4 1/2 c. sifted flour
Decorating icing

Cream butter sugar. Add syrup, honey, lemon rind and vanilla, spices, salt and soda. Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Chill until firm enough to roll. Set oven at 350. Grease and flour baking sheets. On a floured cloth, roll dough 1/8 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Bake on prepared sheets for 8 minutes or until puffed and dry. Cook cookies on rack. Decorate with Decorating Icing. Makes about 108.
