2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. sliced fresh fruit
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. cool whip

Directions:
Line a baking sheet with foil. In a small mixer bowl combine egg whites, tartar and salt. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed till soft peaks form. (tips curls) Gradually add the 1/2 c. sugar, 1 tbsp. at a time, beating on high speed till very stiff peaks form and sugar is almost dissolved. (about 4 minutes) Use the back of a spoon to spread the meringue on the foil in 3 inch circles building up sides. Bake at 300º for 35 minutes. Turn off oven and let meringue shells dry in oven, with door closed for at least 1 hour. Remove from foil, spoon fruit into meringue shells and top with cool whip.
