Nanaimo Bars Recipe

1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
2 cups graham wafer crumbs;
1 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup butter
2 tbsp vanilla instant pudding powder
3 tbsp milk
2 cups sifted icing sugar
3 1-ounce squares semi-sweet chocolate
1 tbsp butter

Melt 1/2 cup butter in saucepan; blend in sugar, cocoa, vanilla, egg, crumbs, coconut and walnuts. Press into 9 x 9-inch pan.

Cream 1/4 cup butter; blend in pudding powder, milk and icing sugar. Spread over crumb mixture. Chill.

Melt chocolate and 1 tbsp butter in double boiler. Spread on chilled mixture. Chill. Cut into bars.
