1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. cloves
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 unbeaten eggs
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/4 c. buttermilk
1 c. currants
1 c raisins (soaked in pineapple juice overnight. Bring to boil, cool and drain)
1/2 c. candied cherries, optional
3/4 c. candied fruits
1 c. chopped walnuts

Cream shortening and sugar. Add other ingredients. Spread on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 20 to 25 minutes. Frost with brandy glaze.
