1 pkg of dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 envelope onion soup mix
2 cup water
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp shortening
6 to 6 1/2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
soften yeast in warm water. add onion soup mix with water, cover and simmer 10 minutes, add sugar, salt, cheese and shotening, stir well, cool to luke warm. stir in 2 cups of flour and beat well, stir in yeast, then add enough flour to make stiff dough, place in greased bowl, turning to grease top, punch down divide in half, cover and let rest 10 minutes, shape in 2 long loaves, place on greased baking sheet sprinkled with corn meal, cut diagonal gashes about 1/4 inch deep, cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour
Bake @ 375 for 20 minutes, brush with a mixture of 1 egg white and 1 tbsp water, bake 10-15 minutes longer
