3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
1 egg beaten
1 1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
into mixing bowl sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt, cut in shortening, stir in walnuts and egg, milk and vanilla, mix just until ingredients are blended, turn into greased and floured 9x5 inch loaf pan,
Bake @ 350 for 60-70 minutes or until loaf tests done, let stand in pan 10 minutes-turn out onto wire rack to cool
