1 pkg. (1/4 oz.) active dry yeast
1/3 c. plus 1 tsp. sugar-- divided
2/3 c. warm milk (110º to 115º)
1/3 c. warm water (110º to 115º)
1 egg- beaten
2 Tbls. plus 2 tsp. shortening- melted ( I use oil)
1 tsp. salt
3 2/3 c.flour
10 hot dogs
2 slices American Cheese- optional

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 tsp. sugar in milk and water; let stand for 5 minutes.
Add egg, shortening(oil), salt, remainder of sugar,and enough flour to form a soft dough.
Turn onto a floured surface;knead until smooth and elastic; about 8-10 minutes.

Place in a oiled bowl; turning dough once to coat top.

Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled- about 1 hour.

Cut a 1/4 in. deep slit(lengthwise) in each hot dog.

Punch dough down; divide into 10 portions.
Roll each into a 5 x 2 inch rectangle and wrap around each hot dog; pinch seam and ends to seal.
Place seam side down on greased baking sheets; let rise for 30 min.
Bake at 350º F. for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
