2 1/4 cups sugar
1/4 cup water
4 eggs
2 T flour
1 T vanilla
pinch of salt
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
3 large cans of evaporated milk
Enough milk to finish the gallon


Directions:

Beat egg whites to stiff peak
Add flour, salt & vanilla - Set aside

* Bring water and sugar to a rolling boil and slowly pour over egg mixture while beating, add condensed milk and continue beating add evaporated milk one can at a time while beating.

Pour into ice cream freezer and finish with whole milk.

This is my Mom's recipe, This recipe is rich and creamy and worth the extra trouble. As kids we use to argue who was going to take turns turning the freezer and who would sit on top. We didn't have electric freezers until I was quite a bit older.

You can add your favorite (snickers, heath, butterfingers, etc. I love peaches in mine especially on a hot summer Sunday afternoon. Hmmm!
