2 quarts firm ripe strawberries
6 cups sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Scald all strawberries with boiling water. Drain after 2 minutes. Add 4 cups of sugar to the scalded berries, bring to a boil slowly and cook for 2 minutes, timing it after entire contents of pan is boiling. Remove from heat and after bubbling has stopped, add 2 cups of sugar and cool 10 minutes. Pour into shallow pans to a depth of not more than 1 1/2 inches and set aside to cool for at least 12 hours.
Preserves will be a rich red color, the berries plump and transparent, the syrup thick.
Pack cold in jars and cover with paraffin.
