FOR LOGS 1 c. butter 1/2 t. salt 1 c. oats (quick or old-fashioned) 2 t. vanilla 1/2 c. powdered sugar 2 c. flour
FROSTING 3 c. powdered sugar 1/3 c. butter, softened 1 1/2 t. vanilla About 2 T. milk food coloring of choice
FOR LOGS: Preheat oven to 325º. Mix all ingredients. Dough will be quite stiff. Roll into logs about 2 x 1 inches in size. Bake 20 minutes exactly. DO NOT OVER BAKE! When cool, ice with shades of butter cream frosting.
FOR FROSTING: Mix powdered sugar and butter. Stir in vanilla and milk. Beat until smooth. Divide into bowls to add drops of food coloring for desired colors. Frost the tops of oatmeal logs. Store covered in cool place.
