2 cups flour
1/4 c shortening (Butter is OK too)
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
2/3 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together dry ingredients. Add shortening and cut into dry with a pastry knife or whatever. Add milk to form call, sometimes more, sometimes less! Put on floured surface and knead about 9 times, then pat out to 1/2 inch thick and cut into biscuits. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

This was the most common thing made by my father, Joseph Long. He could make them with his eyes closed and they were always perfect. He never measured anything but knew by feel when you had enough of each thing.
