1 pkg. (2 layer size) chocolate cake mix
28 to 30 caramel unwrapped
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
8 oz. frozen whip topping

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
Mix cake according to package directions. Spread 1/2 of batter into greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
In saucepan, melt caramels over medium heat with condensed milk. Watch it and continue to stir constantly until all caramels are melted. If you don't continue to stir, it will burn easily.
Spread evenly on baked cake. Cover caramel topping with rest of cake batter. Bake an additional 20 to 25 minutes. When cool, frost with whip topping.
