* 2 lb. green beans
* 1 qt. home canned tomatoes or 1 28 oz. can tomatoes strained
* 2 tsp. salt
* 1/2 cup oil
* 1-2 cloves of garlic
* Fresh basil or 1 tsp. dried basil
* Small pinch of sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Put 1/4 cup oil in large heated pot. Add garlic and sauté lightly. Add the tomatoes and basil to the pot. Add a pinch of sugar to neutralize the acid. Cook slowly for about 20 minutes. Put another pot of water on and bring to a boil. Snap the green bean end and wash the beans. Add salt and beans to the boiling water. Cook for about 8 minutes. Immediately add the hot drained beans to the tomato mixture and continue cooking until the green beans are tender. If the sauce becomes too thick add small amounts of water. Great served with Italian bread.
