8 large onions sliced thin (cuisinart); white onions are best 6 Tbsp butter or oil 6 c. beef broth (water with beef bouillon cubes or crystals to taste. beef paste better than bouillon) French bread Gruyere or Swiss cheese Romano or Asiago cheese
Saute onions in butter until brown in color. Add onions to beef broth. Serve piping hot into a bowl; cover with a slice of french bread and a slice of gruyere or Swiss cheese. Sprinkle Romano or Asiago cheese on top.
