2 cups butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
cream butter, add sugar & vanilla, blend thoroughly, add flour in 4 parts mixing well after each addition. turn out onto floured counter and knead well till all cracks have disappeared. spread into ungreased pan and prick deeply with a fork. bake in a slow oven, 275* F about 50 to 60 min. or until light brown. easiest to cut when hot put leave in pan till cool.
