1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup white corn syrup
2 eggs
1 3/4 cup of sifted cake flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup minus 2 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup jelly

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, add sugar gradually and cream until fluffy.
add syrup gradually beating it in thoroughly
add well beaten eggs a little at a time, beating well with each addition.
sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add to creamed mixture, alternating with the milk.
blend in the vanilla.
divide the batter equally between 4 well greased and floured 8 inch round cake pans, spreading the batter out evenly in each pan. The batter should only be about 1/4 inch deep in each pan
Bake @ 350 aprox 30 min or until tooth pick comes out clean
