"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Baked Beans, by Cindy Empson, is from The Wiersch Family Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
2 cans baked beans (Morton House or Bush original) One package bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled 1/2 to 1 pound hamburger, cooked and drained 1 1/2 to 2 tsp. chili powder 4-5 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 cup ketchup 1/4 to 1/2 cup KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 2 T. prepared mustard
Mix all ingredients and cook in a 9x13 glass dish at 300º for approx 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
I like to mix these up a couple days before baking so the flavors can mingle.
