1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Sift flour and soda together twice; set aside. Cream butter, add sugar slowly, beating constantly. Cream well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in sour cream. Add flour mixture ½ cup at a time, beating constantly. Stir in vanilla extract; turn batter into well greased (with Crisco or margarine, not butter) and floured 10-in. tube pan. Bake in preheated 325 oven for about 1 hour and 30 minutes or until cake tests done. Place pan on rack to cool for 5 minutes. Loosen cake around edge of pan and edge of tube with dull side of knife, pressing toward pan rather than toward cake to protect crust. Turn cake onto rack to cool completely.
