1/2 C. hot water
1C. dates diced
1 egg
1 1/4C. sugar
1Tbsp. melted shortening
1C. chopped nuts
2 1/4C. flour
2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp.salt

Directions:
Directions:
Pour hot water over dates while preparing ingredients. Beat egg well and gradually add sugar. Add dates. Stir in dry ingredients. Add melted shortening and nuts. Batter will be thin. Pour into greased pan(s). Bake at 350º 60 -75 min. Makes 2 small or 1 large pan.
