Rib eye steak (or your favorite)

Season the steak. Melt the butter in a large skillet over high heat. Sear the steaks 2 minutes on each side. Reduce heat and continue cooking to desired doness. Serve immediately.

Mom remembers Uncle Buck bringing home steaks for her and Judy to cook and telling them "These are good steaks, if you can just cook them right!" That's when he taught them to sear the steak first.
