1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 oz. red food coloring
2 teaspoons cocoa
1 scant teaspoon salt
2 1/4 cups cake flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vinegar

FROSTING
1 cup sweet milk
1/4 cup flour
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup crisco
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, shortening & add eggs. Make a paste of cake coloring and cocoa, add salt, flour, buttermilk & vanilla. Mix in last the soda and vinegar. DO NOT BEAT. Bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes. Use 2-3 8 inch pans.

FROSTING
Mix milk and flour before cake. Cook stirring until thick like pudding. Cool until very thick. Then mix separately the rest of the ingredients. Cream real fluffy like whipped cream. Then mix both mixtures together and beat about 15 minutes.
