3/4 C. shortening
1C. sugar
1/4 C. molasses
1egg
2 C. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
In a 3-4 qt. saucepan melt shortening. Let cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg. Mix well. Mix together remaining dry ingredients and add to 1st mixture. Mix well. Chill. Form in 1 inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar and place on greased sheet 2 in. apart. Bake at 375 for 8-10 min.
