Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 lb. stew beef cut into 1" cubes
2 14oz. cans diced tomatoes, undrained
1c. water
3 tbsp. quick tapioca
2 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. thyme
4 carrots, cut in 1/2" chunks
4 potatoes, cut in 1" cubes
3 celery stalks, cut in 1' pieces
2 medium onions, cut in 1/2 " chunks
1 slice of bread cubed

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl combine all ingredients and mix well. Pour into 9x13" baking dish, cover with foil and bake at 325 for about 3 hours or until tender. Dish will be very full at first but food shrinks a little during cooking. This is easy as meat doesn't need browning and it makes it's own "gravy".

Personal Notes:
This is another hearty dish from Taste of Home. This became one of Gram McCarthy's favorites. I use 1/2 the meat and double the vegetables. Probably would also work in a crockpot.
