3 egg whites
Dash salt

3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup fine chocolate wafer crumbs
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped fine
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 pint sweetened whipped cream (sweetened with 2 TBSP confectioner sugar)

chocolate squares

Beat egg whites and salt into soft peaks

Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff

Fold in crumbs, nuts and vanilla

Spread in lightly buttered 9" pie pan

Bake at 325 for 35 minutes, then cool (can be frozen)

Spread whipped cream on pie shell - chill 3 or 4 hours or overnight

Decorate top with shavings of unsweetened chocolate squares
