1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. molasses
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. ginger
3/4 tsp. cloves
3/4 tsp. cinnamon

1. Preheat to 350
2. In a large bowl cream butter, shortening and sugars until fluffy
3. Beat in molasses and eggs
4. Separately combine flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, cloves and cinnamon
5. Gradually add flour mixture to creamed butter mixture until dough is blended and smooth
6. Roll dough into 1 1/2 in. balls (it might help to chill slightly)
7. Dip tops in granulated sugar and place on cookie sheet
8. Bake at 350 for 11 minutes (do not overbake, they will be soft)
9. Cool on rack
