Beef and Potato Bake Recipe

4 cups frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 pound lean ground beef
1 package brown gravy mix
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 package frozen mixed vegetables
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 can 2.8 ounce French Fried Onions

Preheat oven 400
In a shallow 2 qt baking dish, combine potatoes, oil and pepper
Firmly press mixture on the bottom and up the sides of the dish to form a shell
Bake 15 minutes; remove from oven and lower temp to 350
While the potatoes are baking, brown meat and drain
Stir in gravy mix, water and garlic salt; bring to a boil
Add mixed vegetables and cook over medium heat 5 minutes
Stir in 1/2 cup cheese and 1/2 can French Onions
Place in potato shell and bake uncovered for 15 minutes
Sprinkle top with remaining cheese and onions
Return to the oven and bake 5 minutes longer
