1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup butter 1 egg 2 1/4 cup flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Cream butter and sugars. Add oil and egg. Mix well. Add vanilla. Gradually add dry ingredients. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour. Form into 1 1/2 inch balls. Place on cookie sheet; press with a fork to flatten. Sprinkle with sugar if desired. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes or until golden in color.
