1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. almond extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling
Powdered sugar to dust over top, optional

Directions:
Directions:
In large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add the eggs. Beat until light and fluffy. Add almond extract. Stir in the flour and baking powder. Mix until smooth. Butter a 13x9 cake pan. Pour cake mixture into pan. Spoon pie filling onto cake mixture in 16 spots, spacing evenly. (4 across, 4 down) Bake at 350º F for 45 to 50 minutes or until golden brown. Filling will sink into cake while baking. Dust with powdered sugar, cut and serve. This is great served warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
