Directions:Soften yeast in warm water. Place sugar and salt in large mixing bowl. Set aside. Heat and stir shortening and milk until melted (120-130 degrees). Add to mixing bowl along with eggs and yeast mixture. Do not add yeast to mixture that is over 115 degrees. Stir in 1 cup of flour at a time to form soft dough, one that you can beat with an electric mixer. Beat until smooth dough.
Continue adding flour until soft dough can be kneaded. (Stirring with spoon) Knead on a slightly floured board until smooth and elastic. Place in a large greased bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in size (app. 1 hour)
You can roll out on a floured board and cut in shapes desired for dinner rolls. The best way is to pinch off dough and shape about the size of a walnut and place two in each cup of a greased muffin pan. Or you can divide in half and make two loaves. Cover and let rise until nearly double (30 minutes) Bake Rolls at 375 for 15-18 minutes until golden. Brush Tops with butter. Bake loaves at 375 for about 30 minutes. Reheat time about 10minutes LOOK FOR CINNAMON ROLL RECIPE THEY ARE THE BEST !! |
