2 1/4 C. sugar
2/3 stick butter
3 well beaten eggs
4 C flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 heaping tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Using an egg beater, beat butter, sugar and eggs well. Sift remaining dry ingredients and gradually add to sugar and egg mixutre. Then gradually add milk and vanilla. Add more flour if necessary until the consistency is almost dough-like. Refrigerate. Let 3 lbs. lard melt slowly. Place dough on floured board or waxed paper – lightly toss and roll in flour with rolling pin to 1/4 inches. Cut with doughnut cutter and cook in hot lard, a few at a time.
