"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous
1 lb shaved beef 1/2 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 tbsp sesame seeds 2 tbsp minced garlic 1 tbsp sesame seed oil 1/2 cup chopped green onions 1 tsp crushed ginger
Cut meat into bite size chunks. Marinate meat in mixture for 1-4 hours. Fry in a wolk using extra oil if necessary. Serve on lettuce leaves with sticky rice, bean sprouts, bean curd, raw garlic, kimchi, soy sauce and other Korean side dishes.
This is a trial and error recipe that I just had to figure out. I ate a lot of Bolgogi when I was stationed in Osan Korea. This is as close as I have been able to get to native.
