3 c sugar 1 c oil 4 tsp soda 1 tsp salt 4 c all-bran cereal (Kellogs) 2 c 40% bran flakes 2 c water 4 eggs, beaten 5 c flour 1 quart buttermilk
Pour boiling water over 40% bran and let soak. Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten eggs and buttermilk. Fold in Kellogg's Bran and sifted flour, soda and salt. Fold in soaked bran, Bake at 400º for 15 to 18 minutes. Mixture may be stored in refrigerator for 2 weeks.
Yield 4 qts. One pint makes 12 muffins.
