2 lbs. stew meat
6 carrots, peeled and halved
3 potatoes, pared and quartered
1 C coarsely chopped cabbage
1/2 C chopped celery
1 medium onion, chopped
1 T. sugar
1/4 tsp pepper
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 C tomatoes or juice
1 C water
1 slice white bread, broken

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º. Mix meat and vegetables in greased 2 quart casserole with TIGHT FITTING cover, sprinkle with sugar, salt, pepper, pour tomato juice mixture over meat and vegetables. Bake 325 for 3 1/2 hours. Does not need checking. Delicious.
