4 cups unbleached flour
2 Tbsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 sticks butter
1 to 1 1/4 cup milk or half & half
1 cup currants

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sift dry ingredients twice and mix well. Mix in butter until it resembles corn meal (you can do this in a food processor with a blade). Add currants until evenly blended. Add milk or half & half until just blended. Place on floured board, knead once or twice to thoroughly mix, then roll with a rolling pin to 1/2 to 3/4 inches thick. Cut into desired shapes. Brush with egg wash (1 egg + 2 Tbsp. water). Bake for 20 - 25 minutes.
