1/2 CUP MILK OR APPLE JUICE
4 1/2 CUPS ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
2 tsp SODA
2 tsp CINNAMON
1 tsp SALT
1 tsp CLOVES
1 tsp NUTMEG
2 CUPS WALNUTS
2 CUPS CHOPPED UNPEELED APPLES

IN SMALL SAUCE PAN COVER RAISINS WITH WATER. BRING TO BOIL.
REMOVE FROM HEAT.
LET STAND 5 MINUTES COVERED
DRAIN
MEANWHILE IN LARGE MIXING BOWL BEAT TOGETHER SHORTENING & BROWN SUGAR. BEAT IN EGGS & MILK.
STIR TOGETHER FLOUR, SODA,CINNAMON, CLOVES & NUTMEG. ADD TO SHORTENING MIXTURE.
STIR IN APPLES,NUTS & DRAINED RAISINS.
DROP BY ROUNDED TEASPOON INTO UNGREASED COOKIE SHEET. 2 INCHES APART.
