2 lbs cubed steak
flour
salt
pepper
Crisco
2-4 cups milk

Directions:
Directions:
Heat Crisco in large heavy skillet.
Dredge the cubed steaks in the flour and put in skillet. Add salt & pepper to taste. Let fry in hot Crisco until edges start to turn brown (about 3-4 minutes) and turn over. Being careful not to loosen the crust on the bottom of fried steak. Salt & pepper second side and fry until juices run clear. After taking the steaks out to a platter, cover lightly and add flour to the Crisco and meat drippings in the skillet. Salt & pepper the gruel and let brown slightly. Add milk, stirring constantly until thickens to desired consistency. Serve steak and gravy with buttermilk biscuits.
