4 egg whites 1/2 t vanilla 1 1/4 C powdered or 1 C fine granulated sugar
Beat egg whites stiff. Very gradually add 2/3 C sugar. Continue beating until mixture holds its shape. Add flavoring. Then fold in the remaining sugar. Shape with spoon on a cookie sheet - lined with parchment paper. Bake 50 minutes in a very slow oven at 250º.
