1 1/2 cups plain white meal
1/2 cup plain white flour
3/4 tsp soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp baking powder
3 Tbsp. shortening
buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift first 5 ingredients together...

Add the 3 Tbsp of melted shortening adn enough buutermilk to make the mixture thin enough to drop inot muffin pans with a spoon.

Preheat oven and muffin tins to 425º...Be sure to have enough grease in the tins to keep them from sticking.

Cook until "crowned".
