1-6 oz tomato paste
3-4 cups tomato juice
2-3 bay leaves

1Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp chili powder
cayenne pepper

Melt 4 T Butter or bacon drippings in skillet over medium low heat. Add 2 finely minced cloves garlic, celery and onions. Saute a few minutes. Add beef, chopping it. (I sprinkle garlic powder or salt instead of clove and use only half the amount of butter to saute the vegetabeles.Allow meat to cook until redness is gone. You can brown a littel by increasing heat a few minutes.

Add meat mixture to a large kettle and add the mushrooms, tomato juice, tomato paste, broken bay leaves, salt, peppers, chili powder, and sugar. Add a pinch of oregano and rosemary, as well.

Simmer with top off for 2 hours...
