2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
3 cups flour
1/2 teas. soda
1/2 teas. salt
1/2 teas. baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
4 whole eggs
3 teas. coconut flavoring
1 cup pecans
1 cup angel flake coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cream shortening & sugar; add eggs one at a time; add flavoring & dry ingredients alternating with milk. Fold in nuts & coconut. Bake in tube pan for 1 hr. & 20 min.

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
2 T. white syrup
2 T. butter
1 teas. coconut flavoring
Cook 5 min. punch holes in cake pour over cake while cake is still warm. cool in pan for 4 hours. then turn out.

This is our daughters favorite cake - she always wants it for her birthday. This too is a favorite of my dad's and in looking at their favorite Bible verses this one was a special verse for both of them. Romans 8:28-29
