1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups quick oats, uncooked
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup M & M's, chocolate candies
1/2 cup raisin's, soaked in warm orange juice
overnight before adding to mixture.
3/4 cup nuts
1/4 coconut (optional)

Directions:

Beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy; blend in egg and vanilla.

Add combined oats, flour, soda and salt; mix well.

Stir in remaining ingredients.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoons on to ungreased cookie sheet about 3-inches apart.

Press 2-3 additional candies in each cookie, if desired.

Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes.

Cool on cookie sheet about 3 minutes; remove cookies to wire rack to cool thoroughly.
