Ingredients:
Ingredients:
150g self-raising flour, 75g butter, 75g sugar, 1 egg, 4tbsp milk. The topping: can be golden syrup, chocolate spread, lemon curd, jam, tinned fruit in syrup....probably many other possibilities!
Custard or cream to go with it as seems most appropriate.

Directions:
Directions:
Put slow cooker on to hot. Spread butter around the inside of a 1 litre pyrex bowl. Sift flour then rub in butter (cut butter to small chunks then rub butter and flour through fingers till all looks like breadcrumbs). Stir in sugar. Beat the egg and milk in a glass then stir into the dry ingredients.
Put 2-3 tbspoons of the syrup / lemon curd / jam / fruit in syrup / chocolate spread into the bottom of the pyrex dish. Spoon the mixture on the top. Cover the bowl with foil. Stand in the slow cooker. Add boiling water around bowl till three quarters of the way up the side. Put lid on slow cooker and leave for 2 hours (or more...three and a half didn't do any harm, just don't let boil dry!).

Personal Notes:
Retrieve pyrex bowl from slow cooker with a large slotted serving spoon. Serve by turning out onto a plate. Run pallet knife around top edge of pudding then cover with serving plate, invert and wait - it always falls out (promise!!).
