3 large heads cabbage
2 t. tumeric
12 onions
12 green bell peppers
1 gallon green tomatoes
5 carrots
5 lbs. sugar
1 gallon vinegar
6 tsp mixed whole spices
1 stalk celery

Directions:
Directions:
Grind all vegetables and put into large granite or stainless-steel pan. Let stand overnight. Drain. Tie mixed spices in bag. Add sugar and spices to vinegar. Simmer 20 minutes, then add all other ingredients and simmer until hot and well seasoned. Remove spice bag. Pack hot chow-chow into hot jars and seal at once.
