2 C. flour
1 tsp. soda
2 C. oatmeal
1 C. brown sugar
1 C. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 C. dates
1 C. sugar
3/4 C. water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together flour, soda, oatmeal, brown sugar, shortening, and salt. Pat 1/2 of this mixture into the bottom of a 9X13 pan. Then, boil dates, sugar, and water. Spread the date mixture over the crust and cover with the remaining half of the dry ingredients. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
