1 c. sugar
¼ c. margarine
1 egg
3 c. chopped apples
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. Cinnamon

LEMON SAUCE:
¾ c. sugar
2-1/4 T. flour
1/8 tsp. Salt
1-1/2 c. boiling water
3 T. lemon juice
1 tsp. Margarine
Yellow food coloring, if desired, for a richer color

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter. Add egg, apples and nuts. Combine flour, soda, cinnamon and salt and add to creamed mixture. Pour into 9x9 pan. Bake 350 45 minutes or until deep golden brown.

Sauce, combine sugar, flour & salt in saucepan. Add boiling water gradually, stirring constantly over medium heat. Bring to a boil. Add lemon juice & margarine and continue stirring to a full rolling boil. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add food coloring, if desired. Serve either warm or cold, over apple dessert.
